Last year Elise Honeyman connected with Jiri Lev, founder of Architects Assist, to learn about the Australian Institute of Architects initiative, its implementation and lessons learned since its inception in January 2020.
Brisbane ferry terminal creates simple, resilient infrastructure that uses a series of simple responses to natural environmental processes.
The site is located on a steeply sloping block, obliquely facing Bass Straight. Perched high on the hill side, the house sits where the tree canopy once stood.
This project was a significant learning experience for us. The process endured leadership changes, political challenges and some vocal community opposition – the collective fatigue at that time was palpable.
